Running Information

In 2009 Ashurst Bike Club became affiliated to UK Athletics under the running team name of ABC Runners.  As ABC Runners we are also affiliated to the Manchester & District Cross Country League.

We promote road racing, such as the Four Villages half marathon and cross country throughout the year (Manchester Area Cross Country League) including  other fell races in the area such as Parbold Hill Race and the Ashurst Beacon Fell Race.

Our main run session is now on a Monday night at the Robin Park Running Track, Wigan.  This is a Tri Team Wigan session coached by our club Chairman and Coach Matt Shillabeer.  These are structured sessions and are periodised through the year (session charge does apply £2.70 to track owners; £2 to Tri Team Wigan)

In addition to this Terry Bates takes a run session on a Wednesday evening meeting in Rainford at the Cricket Field car park off Church Road at 6.30pm prompt  This session is interval based, but use both on road and off road surfaces

When you join ABC, let us know if you want to be affiliated to UK Athletics on a personal level and we will register you.  This is an extra £5.00 per year on club membership, but is easily covered in 2 or 3 road or fell race entries through the affiliated club scheme.
