ashurst bike club 2011  Swim Zone - Saturday session

 

General Information - 

 

Location & Time:

  • @ the Selwyn Jones Leisure Centre, Newton-le-Willows (off M6 J23, A580)

  • Includes a coached junior lane

  • All saturday mornings from 0900hrs to 1030hrs

  • Periodised sessions to help you through the racing season, be it triathlon or openwater racing

Cost:

  • Sessions are £4 per week, paid before the session on poolside. (£3 for juniors)

Swim Programme:

  • The programme is designed to support swim development building towards the triathlon racing season

  • Pacing charts will be available at all sessions based on 400m times, so you are always training at the optimum level (see links below)

Swim Sessions:

  • Session plans will be provided each week by the pool side coach

  • The sessions are designed by the ABC coaching team.

  • Each session will include a warm up, drill/kick set, main set or test and cool down - on occasion a short speed set may be incorporated into the session

  • Sessions are tailored in length according to the speed/experience of the lane - there will be an easy lane (1),  2 x medium lane (2&3), 1 x medium/fast lane (4) and a fast lane (5) with juniors in lane 6 (nearest changing room)

  • Drill sets are included to assist with your stroke development - these are standard drills and may require the use of a float or pull buoy (available at the pool), paddles or fins (not provided) - a brief description of the drill technique will be provided on this web site.

  • Additional sessions of a similar nature are available below "session plans" to supplement the Saturday sessions.

Safety:

  • Please review the lane organisation plan (follow link) - this will be adopted each week and is for your safety

  • Safety cover is provided by the staff at selwyn jones and the venue's own emergency procedures should be followed - if unsure please ask a member of staff

  • If you are a newcomer, please advise the ABC member collecting the money and taking the register of any medical conditions you feel should be made known for safety reasons - i.e. this may include the accessibility to an inhaler for asthma
